Swahili Fashion Week (SFW), the biggest fashion annual event is coming up soon and we are so excited to see how this year’s event is going to top the last one. Last year we saw the 6th event of SFW, which took place from the 5th to the 8th of December at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Swahili Fashion Week is a complement of fashion show events, designer shopping festivals, networking opportunities and an award show. Swahili Fashion Week this year will have an award show in the following categories:
Swahili Fashion Week aims to improve the design quality output from Tanzania and East Africa, to promote Tanzanian Fashion Brands and provide a platform for up coming Tanzanian designers. It also aims to create future markets for Tanzanian products in the diaspora market. In addition, Swahili Fashion Week seeks to emphasize to the region that fashion is an income generating creative industry while promoting “Made in Africa.”
This year will bring the regions finest 24 designer to showcase over a period of 3 days. Last year’s event provided fashion shows from up to 40 designers from Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Rwanda and Uganda.
