L A U R E N C E A I R L I N E is a menswear brand by one of the most promising fashion designer. Laurence Chauvin- Buthaud founded her menswear brand in 2010 and the name is a hint to her nomadic upbringing and lifestyle. Born in Côte d’Ivoire and having travelled to Europe; her label is undergoing the same treatment. With her headquarters in Abidjan and Paris, she spends half the year in Côte d’Ivoire designing and producing with the rest of the year spent in Paris promoting and selling her collection.
Adding to this duality of African and European influences, this menswear brand is not about producing the cliché “African-inspired” fashion with tribal print or “ethnic” print. The goal of the brand is to “re-imagine the African continent’s cultural inheritance in a way that fashion and ethnic cultures can successfully collaborate to create possibilities for the future.”
Laurence is not only an incredible designer but also who is passionate about lending a hand to building Africa’s modern reality for the international fashion scene. With a strict emphasis on producing her pieces in Abidjan, she seeks to train, produce high quality products and make Ivorian’s proud.
