Ndani TV is an illustration of African’s choosing to tell their own stories, from their perspective. Ndani TV is an entertainment oriented online television platform on YouTube that captures the best of contemporary African lifestyle. Thus, it covers a multitude of topics from film, sports, cuisine, comedy to fashion. This online television platform first joined YouTube in February 2012 and now boasts over 9 million views as well as 46,651 subscribers.
Although Ndani TV has its roots in Nigeria, it tries to cover stories from different African countries, including Kenya. In fact, the word “ndani” is Kiswahili for ‘inside’ and according to their website, Ndani TV’s goal is to “take you on a journey into the depths of Africa, unveiling the beauty inside.”
The wonderful thing about Ndani TV, besides the fact that it is basically free and readily accessible, is that it caters to all tastes. Ndani features various programs, comedic ones like “The Interview” a program which follows the hilarious journey of a job seeker named Frank Donga. “Fashion Insider” provides exclusive interviews and backstage access to Africa’s largest fashion events. However, it is not just about entertainment as Ndani TV also features educational programs like “Young CEO” which shares lessons learned by young CEOs in their journeys to success.
Consistently producing quality original programs, Ndani TV aspires to introduce you to the vibrant culture of various African countries. According to their Facebook Page, “Ndani TV [is] the purveyor of Pan African taste and the #1 online destination for premium African business, entertainment and travel content.”
