TDS ‘African Fashion Bloggers to Follow’ 2016

As the rest of the Fashion world turns to the African continent for inspiration, so should your Instagram feed. Here are some of the continent’s bloggers that caught our attention for giving off all that sartorial inspiration and then some.

Who: JTO

IG Handle: @jtofashion

Founded by Nigerian-born Temi Otedola in 2014, JTO goes beyond highlighting her fashion style, from her home country Nigeria as well as from her travels to Milan, Paris, London and New York. The fashion lover, who just so happens to have interned with fashion house, Oscar de la Renta, also touches on art and photography. So it’s no wonder that this young adult has already been featured in British Vogue, Tatler, and on CNN and on the Fashion Bomb Daily “Best Dressed” list.

Who: TEETEEISWITHME

IG Handle: @teeteeiswithme

The brainchild of South African blogger Thithi Ntetaher goes well beyond her refined fashion aesthetic. It also covers beauty, travel and life in-between. What is commendable about this blogger is her great support for local brands, which makes up a large part of her posts. She’s also a go-to guide for tutorials and wardrobe ideas to help you navigate fashion trends or for some much –needed clothes inspiration.

Who: New Hipster

IG Handle: @newhipsterstyle

Another South African Fashion blogger on the list, Crystal Kapper refers to herself as ‘The new generation fashion hippie’. One thing is for sure, she definitely has an eye for colour and creativity when it comes to her posts. Definitely not afraid of experimentation, there’s an array of playful hairstyles, cutesy shoes and complimentary cosmetics for days. We also love the concept of her teaming up with fellow blogger, Palesa Mahlaba, for double trouble fashion posts known as the DuoDesk. #squad anyone?

Who: Igee Okafor

IG Handle: @IgeeOkafor

The Nigerian-born, New York based, Fashion and lifestyle blogger describes his platform as, “[a] look into all these things jointly and in significant detail.” The creative is truly a DIY blogger, as he created most of what you’ll see on the blog that includes, the logo, videos, photos and write-ups. His mix of casual and classic gentleman styles shows it doesn’t take much to get that dapper style down. And he doesn’t stop there, the blog also features etiquette. His list of collaborations and media coverage are quite impressive too. He may only be 21 years old but he’s spent a considerable amount of time redefining his look and it shows.

Ghanaian Fashion-blogger Afua Rida is well-versed in the world of fashion. Apart from blogging she has the titles of Fashion stylist, consultant and runway show producer under her belt. This list is in no way exhaustive. In fact, we’re a little bummed out that we can’t go on and on in this post. There really is a lot of talent on this continent. Share with us some of the bloggers you think should have been highlighted in this series. Perhaps [read as definitely] another list is in order.
